For example, Theodore made a Get Well card for Dave when he was in the hospital in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and he made a special necklace for Dave in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Theodore and Dave have an extremely close bond. His pajamas consist of a matching set of a white and green striped long-sleeved shirt and pants. In ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks, Theodore wears a green zipped-hoodie, which has a lighter shade of green on the hood, light blue jeans that are folded at the bottom, and white, cream, and green colored sneakers with green laces. His appearance was modified to look more closely to a real life chipmunk. In the CGI/live-action films, Theodore has dirty blond fur and green eyes. In the first 5 seasons, he has black eyes, and in the Chipmunk Adventure and season 6-8 his eyes become green. In the Alvin and the Chipmunks series, Theodore wears a green sweater, and a pair of white and blue pattered sneakers. After The Alvin Show was created, he wears a dark green sweater and black shoes. He is the second shortest chipmunk, slightly taller than Eleanor, in all films and series except The Alvin Show in which he is taller than Alvin but shorter than Simon.īefore The Alvin Show, Theodore wore a pink vest with a "T" in it. Theodore is commonly seen wearing a dark green top. He is also terrified of clowns ( Clowning Around) and does not always chew his food ( Curiosity). Theodore is seen a number of times carrying a teddy bear ( Talking Teddy and Lil'T). Despite his kind and sweetness, he has picked up some of his brothers' habits when he gets upset by either giving an attitude or pitching a fit. He is seen more as the younger brother that is either taken advantage of or ignored by both of his brothers in the series. Theodore retains his innocent, gullible and naive nature, but loses the sensibility over his weight as seen in the CGI films that was unlike him in the 1980s. ![]() He has a crush on Eleanor Miller, one of The Chipettes who has similar traits of Theodore, who shares his same interest, but not as gullible and she returns his feelings, but feels that he should stand up for himself more. He is shown in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel to be somewhat sensitive about his weight when the bullies poke his belly and butt and call him fat, even going as far as saying that he has " serious junk in the trunk." Alvin and Simon get furious upon seeing their little brother get picked on because of his weight and claw them up as a result, taking care and watching after their little brother. He is shown to have nightmares (as well as frequent fears such as eagles and jungle monsters) and often sleeps with Dave in the first movie. He is very gullible and innocent, always letting Alvin get to him with his schemes. Theodore is a chipmunk who helps out his brothers in their time of need. Additionally, he is seen being close to Simon. He is found to care deeply about his self-image trying on numerous occasions to attempt to become more fit or at the very least, trying to lose a little weight as seen in The Picture of Health and The Brunch Club. Theodore's love for cooking is often seen in episodes such as Father's Day Muffins and Every Chipmunk Tells A Story. ![]() Theodore is often seen with a teddy bear in some episodes as well as Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein and Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman. He is also portrayed to be the smallest and the youngest. He is considered naive, friendly, cheerful and accepting. Theodore is a character that has a great interest in the culinary arts in the 1980’s and 1990’s television series. His personality wasn't fully developed until the 1980's. When it came to mischief, though he and Simon follow Alvin as they play, Theodore was second in line. Unlike other incarnations, Theodore was taller than Alvin, but still shorter than Simon. In The Alvin Show, Theodore was commonly known for his adorable giggling whenever he feels happy or chats with his family.

![]() The 28-year-old Oscar-winning actress is playing the role of Lara Croft, first played by Angelina Jolie over a. PG-13, a little profanity, moderate action violence, graphic tomb-raiding. Alicia Vikander is so bad-ass in the trailer for her upcoming movie Tomb Raider. With Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu. The amiable mediocrity has stifled our interest. Nothing really connects until we get to the tomb, which naturally is full of Indiana Jones booby traps and puzzles, but by then it’s too late. Lara participates in a bicycle race (whee!) Lara is shipwrecked (exciting!) Lara hangs precariously from a great height (several times!). Most of the action feels like that: fun in the moment but unimportant in the big picture. She gets away without fighting anyone or losing the backpack. ![]() Mind you, she’s very good at running, and a chase sequence can be as thrilling as a fight, but where does it get us? In one instance, three punks steal her backpack and she chases them down and retrieves it before one of them produces a knife and starts pursuing her. But in a disappointing nod to reality, Lara mostly runs away when threatened, never engaging in hand-to-hand combat till the end of the film. In favor of opening the tomb is one Mathias Vogel (Walton Goggins), a cold-blooded psycho with an army of slaves digging up the island in search of it.Īs someone who has not played the Tomb Raider video games, I assumed Lara Croft would be the sort of heroine who fights a lot of dudes. The film is half over when Lara, assisted by Hong Kong boat captain Lu Ren (Daniel Wu), barely makes it alive to Yamatai, a “lost” island where her dad was hunting for an evil Japanese queen’s cursed tomb so he could prevent anyone from ever opening it and unleashing whatever dark forces it contains. Turns out Lord Richard Croft moonlighted as a globe-trotting adventurer and has left one of those “If you’re watching this I must be dead” videos with a message that Lara ignores in favor of going off to search for him. Instead, Dad’s lawyer gives Lara a Japanese puzzle box he left for her, leading her to his secret lair under the family tomb. Her billionaire father (Dominic West) vanished seven years ago, and Lara could have his fortune if only she’d follow the advice of family friend/former guardian Ana Miller (Kristin Scott Thomas) and sign the papers acknowledging his probable death. The appealing Alicia Vikander plays Lara Croft, a spunky young London woman who hustles to support herself as a bike delivery-person. Directed by Roar Uthaug (he’s from Norway) from a screenplay by the extremely British-sounding Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons, this “Tomb Raider” is a series of moderately exciting situations surrounded by - and barely attached to - a derivative fill-in-the-blanks adventure plot. After never claiming her inheritance for many years. ![]() When she is arrested after a bike accident involving a Police car, Richards business partner Ana Miller (Dame Kristin Scott Thomas) posts her bail. You have to take what you can get with this film, which is based on the 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider video game whose previous installments inspired the two Angelina Jolie-starring Tomb Raider movies in the early 2000s. Following the disappearance of her father, Lord Richard Croft (Dominic West), Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) makes a living as a bike courier. His arrival in the Tomb Raider and Marvel franchises has solidified Goggins’ fame by bringing his talents to a more mainstream audience. Although often portrayed as a femme fatale, she was a shrewd politician, using intelligence more than feminine wiles in relationships with Rome. ( How Cicero's murder ushered in the Roman Empire)Ĭleopatra was the last member of the Ptolemaic dynasty that ruled Egypt from 305 B.C. The great Roman philosopher was an outspoken critic of Antony, and upon his death, Antony’s wife, Fulvia, took Cicero’s severed head, spat on it, and jabbed his tongue repeatedly with her hairpin, taking postmortem revenge against the famous orator. In one of their most atrocious acts, they put to death and confiscated the property of some 3,000 patricians, including Cicero, who openly rebuked the triumvirate. But at first, the triumvirate worked together to make and veto laws to their benefit, appoint governors and consuls, and decide judicial cases without appeal, even though the Senate and assemblies still met and elections continued. The year after Caesar’s death, in 43 B.C., Octavian, Caesar’s great-nephew and protégé, formed the Second Triumverate with Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, a Roman general and statesman, and Mark Antony, a Roman general under Caesar, proclaiming they were “settling the Republic.” It would prove an uneasy alliance in the long term-one that in the end would leave one man standing. Once in Italy, he was at war with the Roman Senate. At the riverbank, Caesar paused and, quoting Greek poet Menander, said, “The die is cast,” then crossed. The Rubicon separated Cisalpine Gaul-the piece of land where Italy joins the mainland, at the time inhabited by Celts-from the Italian peninsula, and crossing into Italy would violate a law (Lex Cornelia de Majestates) that forbade a general to lead an army out of his assigned province-a scandalous crime. On January 10, Caesar approached the small Rubicon River with his soldiers. Noble consul Lentulous ordered Caesar to yield control of his army, a mandate that incited Mark Antony and other allies to flee Rome and join Caesar. The year was 49 B.C., and Caesar, Pompey, and their allies were embroiled in a three-year civil war against Rome. The metaphor “Crossing the Rubicon” describes a step that commits to an irreversible course of action, but where does it come from? Julius Caesar, of course. I am over-simplifying things but you get my point.Īnother reason I don’t love the mats system is that the area represented in the above drawing just in front of the shower. For example, I have a 7 foot wide area to be covered and my mats will only accommodate 6′ so the solution is to widen the gaps between the mats (boooo). Some of our bathrooms run a little (cough, cough) larger and these mats only come in predetermine widths. If you have a really simple layout than this system work fine. The good part about this system is that you can control the exact areas of coverage and the installation procedure doesn’t change for irregular areas.Īnother variant on the electric cable and strap system is the electric wire preset into a mat mesh. The heat will not extend more than about 2″ from the wire so that is a consideration for the spacing and general layout pattern. There is a strap (shown below as a gray bar) that you adhere to the sub-floor and then weave the wire back and forth to create your area of coverage. This is a view looking down at a typical electric wire layout (Nuheat and Infloor offer these types of systems). As far as the degree of difficulty for the different types of installation, I suspect the contractors have their preference as well. and they are all good products although I’m not a huge fan of using the mat systems. There are several different brands we specify – Nuheat, Infloor, Suntouch, etc. Despite what G-Man Bill tells me, electric radiant heating systems are the only type we ever use. There is also product and installation cost difference in a typical bathroom we might spend $800 on the electric system where a similarly sized hydronic system might cost $4,000. Since we only are looking for “spot heating” (warming just the bathroom or kitchen) instead of “sole source heating” (heating your entire house), we are in a turn-on & turn-off situation … and the cost of running these small areas just a few hours (at most) a day is vastly more cost-effective. ![]() The DOE tells me that hydronic systems are very energy-efficient but we don’t use boilers in Dallas and I think the DOE is full of baloney. I can’t imagine using the air-heated ones – it seems like something Dennis Hopper would have come up with and wildly inefficient. Out of these three systems, we only use the electric radiant systems. In some systems, the temperature in each room is controlled by regulating the flow of hot water through each tubing loop. Hydronic radiant floor systems pump heated water from a boiler through tubing laid in a pattern underneath the floor. Hydronic (liquid) systems are the most popular and cost-effective radiant heating systems for heating-dominated climates. Because of the relatively high cost of electricity, electric radiant floors are usually only cost-effective if they include a significant thermal mass, such as a thick concrete floor, and your electric utility company offers time-of-use rates. Systems that feature mats of electrically conductive plastic are also available, and are mounted onto the subfloor below a floor covering such as tile. ![]() Because of the inefficiency of trying to heat a home with a conventional furnace by pumping air through the floors, the benefits of using solar heat during the day are outweighed by the disadvantages of using the conventional system at night.Įlectric radiant floors typically consist of electric cables built into the floor. Although they can be combined with solar air heating systems, those systems suffer from the obvious drawback of only being available in the daytime, when heating loads are generally lower. Since I tend to get “wordy”, I thought I would have some G-Man from the Department of Energy describe the different types of radiant floor heat – it won’t be as interesting but you’ll have a firm grasp of what you have to work with.īecause air cannot hold large amounts of heat, radiant air floors are not cost-effective in residential applications, and are seldom installed. ![]() I know she would love to have nice warm floors in the colder months so that she could forego socks or slippers – sort of a big deal since our house has concrete floors. That might not sound that unusual but I do live in Texas and we are going through one of the hottest summers on record – and yet people are asking for radiant floors … that’s because radiant floors are wonderful. Bushnell AppĪrgugably the biggest perk with this rangefinder is the Bushnell Golf app. Plus, you don’t have to buy any other sleeves or accessories for the magnetic mounting. This makes it easy to mount the device on the golf cart bar so it doesn’t accidentally slide off the seat and potentially damage it. Unlike a lot of other rangefinders this Bushnell device has “integrated bite magnetic mount” technology. Luckily, the Tour V6 shift makes it easy to confirm you are locked on your target so you can stand over the shot with more confidence. If you’ve ever accidentally targeted something other than the flagstick (like a tree or mound behind the green) you know the frustration that happens. As Bushnell said, “In addition to feeling when you have locked onto the flag, a red ring now flashes as JOLT vibrates to give you even greater feedback and confidence to know you have locked onto the flag.” Visual Jolt TechnologyĪnother perk with these laser rangefinders is the jolt to confirm your target. ![]() The improved weather resistant design is a nice upgrade but if you want a fully waterproof design you’ll need to opt for the Pro X3 (more on that below). Its improved weather resistant design (not waterproof) so you can use it during winter golf thanks to the IPX6 design. Plus, if you like to play in wet, rainy conditions your device will keep working too. While I don’t recommend testing the durability unnecessarily, it’s nice to know that your investment has a sturdy design. ![]() I have a friend with one of these golf rangefinders and it’s fallen out of golf carts and keeps working no problem. One thing I’ve always loved about Bushnell rangefinders is the durable design. Plus, it has a 6X magnification too so picking targets is easier than ever. The Tour trusted slope technology does the math for you with a “Play As” distance. But if you play in competitive events, you can still easily turn it off as well. You can use the slope in noncompetitive events to easily determine how much a shot is uphill or downhill. The Tour V6 Shift is different from the V6 thanks to its slope switch technology. As Bushnell said on their website, “Get the right number on every shot, whether you are lasering a tree, bunker or a flag, Bushnell is accurate to within inches of your target.”īushnell claims this rangefinder is within one yard and works up to 1,300 yards! You won’t have to second guess yourself thanks to the accurate distance technology. One of the main reasons Bushnell has been a top name in the rangefinder world is their instance accuracy. Keep reading to learn why this is one of the best rangefinders in golf. The Tour V6 also has new and improved features over the V5 but doesn’t include slope (both versions are a USGA conforming device). The new Bushnell Tour V6 Shift is their most advanced rangefinder yet that has slope and a myriad of other features.Bushnell makes some of the best rangefinders in golf and is the number one brand by professional golfers. Here’s how Bushnell described it on their website, “Utilizing new and improved electronics, along with our patented, Tour-trusted Slope technology, Tour V6 Shift is the most accurate, consistent and longest ranging Tour series laser Bushnell Golf has ever released.” Key Takeaways While the previous model, the Bushnell Tour V5 Shift (read our full review here), was a top-seller, this one is even better. This is why 99% of PGA Tour pros use Bushnell over any other brand – they know they can trust their rangefinder as it plays such a big role in their careers. As you’ll see in this review, it’s truly the best of both worlds! Bushnell Tour V6 Shift Recapīushnell is no stranger to the rangefinder world as they’ve made some of the best products for a long time. The new Bushnell Tour V6 Shift is not only a golf rangefinder but thanks to the app, a GPS device too. Luckily, you don’t have to choose between one or the other anymore. Plus, they aren’t great for individuals with shaky hands and have a hard time trying to focus. While laser rangefinders are great, they don’t give you an overview of the hole… just the distance to your target. But a lot of players face the challenge of choosing between a golf rangefinder or a golf GPS device. Let’s face it, golf is a difficult sport so any accessory that makes the game a little easier we’re all for it. This golf rangefinder has everything you need to find the right club for every shot during a round. If you’re an avid golfer you need to read this Bushnell Tour V6 shift review. |
